This weekend, Microsoft, in conjunction with Bungee Studios, will be hosting a Halo-themed event at Cockatoo Island in preparation for the release of the hotly anticipated Halo 3: ODST. In addition to playing public bouts of Halo 3, attendees will be able to get 'up-close-and-personal' with a life-sized replica of the iconic Halo Warthog assault vehicle.
The full-sized replica of the vehicle will be on display all weekend, complete with a two storey crash-landing set designed by special effects company Weta Workshop. Weta is perhaps most famous for producing the sets, costumes, armour, weapons and creatures for Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
The event will be open from 10am-5pm on Saturday, 8 August and Sunday, 9 August. Services to Cockatoo Island depart regularly on both the Balmain/Woolwich service and the Parramatta River service. You can find out more about departure times here: www.sydneyferries.info.
