Remains of the Day: iPad, you pad, we all pad

So many remainders for you today, and they're all focused on the iPad or iPad rivals, such as they are.

So many remainders for you today, and they're all focused on the iPad or iPad rivals, such as they are. The remainders for Thursday, July 7, 2011 want to multitouch you all over.

Rutgers-led Experts Assemble Globe-Spanning Supercomputer Cloud (Rutgers)

Rutgers engineers took first place in a scalable computer competition at an IEEE symposium after demonstrating their supercomputer cloud computing environment--which they controlled using an iPad. Meanwhile, I managed to stay focused in seven separate games of Words With Friends, so to each his own, I say.

iPhone 5 redesign likely says WSJ, but have you met the iPad HD? (This is my next...)

According to Joshua "Top o' the Mornin'" Topolsky, Apple will unveil an iPad 2 sequel later this fall with a screen featuring double the resolution of Apple's current tablet. Apple marketing is still working out what to call the rumored iPad HD's display, but I'm rooting for "Fly Eye Retina Display."

HP TouchPad parts analyzed, manufacturing cost similar to the iPad 2 (Engadget)

It seems the innards of an HP TouchPad cost just about the same as the innards of an iPad 2. Of course, reviews of the TouchPad have repeatedly compared it--unfavorably--with the iPad. Meanwhile, I still fear the day our tablet computers rise up and disassemble us instead.

Georgian President's Son Breaks World Record for Fastest Typing on iPad (FoxNews.com)

I'm not saying there's a connection. Because Georgia may well know where I live.

Motorola Mobility Cuts Tablet Price (Zacks.com)

Good news! Motorola has dropped the price of the Xoom tablet to $499, a drop of $100. So now it's just as affordable as an iPad. I'm confident that will solve all of Motorola's tablet sales woes and--hahahahahahahaha. Sorry, I tried to keep a straight face. Really, I did.
