Apple's iOS is responsible for the largest proportion of ad impressions globally. However, while in Europe iOS has is the strongest platform for ad impressions, in the US Android is in pole position.
iOS gains 45% while Android achieves 38% of ad impressions globally. Per device, the iPhone gains 30% of ad impressions and the iPad achieves 7%, as does the iPod touch (7%). The rest line up as follows: Galaxy S2: 3%; BlackBerry 8520: 2%; I9000: 2%; GT-S5830: 2%; BlackBerry 9800: 1%; BlackBerry 9300: 1%; Wildfire: 1%.
In Europe iOS accounts for 41% of impressions while Andorid has 35%. Broken down by device, the iPhone has 27% of ad impressions, while the iPad gets 9%, and iPod touch is on 5% (just behind BlackBerry on 6%).
Splitting east and west Europe, is interesting: In Western Europe the iPhone gains 28% and the iPad 8%, while in Eastern Europe the iPhone has 19%, while the iPad has 17%, suggesting that the iPad is more popular with Eastern Europeans.

In Asia iOS has 52% to Android's 36%. In Africa iOS has 25%, Symbian has 20% and Android has 18%. In South America Android has 35% and iOS leads with 38%.
The most popular source for ad impressions in Europe and US is Games - 31% in US, 44% in Europe. Elsewhere News, Sport, & Information figure most highly - 23% in South America, 42% in Africa, and 33% in Asia. News, Sport & Information performs more strongly in the UK than the rest of Europe.
