Telstra, Optus and Vodafone will sell Apple's Wi-Fi + Cellular iPad mini "in the coming weeks", while the latest 4th Generation iPad is available through all three carriers now, it was announced today.
Telstra, Optus and Vodafone revealed today that Apple's 4th Generation Wi-Fi + Cellular Pad, the first iPad to be compatible with Australian 4G networks, is available now from. It will sell on a range of 24 month contracts through Telstra and Vodafone, while Optus will sell the tablet on both 12 and 24 month plans. Price through each telco varies depending on the plan and the model chosen.
In addition to the 4th Generation iPad, all three telcos will sell the Wi-Fi + Cellular version of the iPad mini in the coming weeks. Telstra is currently allowing potential customers to register their interest in the upcoming iPad mini by leaving their details, while Vodafone's iPad mini page simply lists the device as "coming soon". The Optus Web site doesn't yet list the iPad mini at all, though the telco has confirmed it will be available "soon".
Pricing and an official release date for the 4G version of the iPad mini is yet to be revealed by any of the telcos.
The iPad mini officially went on sale in Australia on Friday 2 November, but the Wi-Fi only model of the tablet was sold first. Apple initially listed the availability of the Wi-Fi + Cellular version as "late November", but the company's online store still shows a two week shipping wait at the time of writing.
