Final Fantasy XIV beta application site goes live

Prologue video for A Realm Reborn also released

Players keen to get an early taste of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XIV reboot, subtitled A Realm Reborn, can do so by signing up for the beta.

Following the conclusion of alpha tests in December, The Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn beta test application site has gone live, with beta testing expected to take place in mid-February.

Any Australian gamers wanting to try the game before its release can sign up at the European portal.

A Realm Reborn is a retooling of Final Fantasy XIV following the lacklustre response the publisher received to the original release of the game in 2010, which led to a switch in development teams.

The new game aims to address the criticisms of the earlier release by making use of a new engine, better server structures, reworked gameplay, and streamlined interface.

As well as applying for the beta test, players can see how the game is shaping up with a newly released prologue video.
