Foxtel’s Go app, originally made for the iPad, has had a makeover — it’s now also available for the iPhone and iPod touch. Foxtel announced the new app as part of its 2013 programming launch in an event at Sydney’s Fox Studios.
The revamped app, which has been optimised to fit the smaller screen size of an iPhone or iPod touch (iPhone 4 through 5, and iPod touch 5th generation are supported), will also be able to access “more than 50 live channels” from the Foxtel line-up by March, with the addition of FOX SPORTS 1, 2 and 3.
Foxtel Go is available exclusively to existing Foxtel subscribers — the company doesn’t offer the app or its other Foxtel on Demand online services a la carte. Two devices can access the same Foxtel Go account at the same time — letting a couple, or two housemates, each use the service without interruption.
The app can also be used to remotely set recordings for Foxtel programming, which will be fulfilled on the linked Foxtel iQ digital video recorder. With the new smartphone app, Foxtel will be accessible on Apple devices of all sizes: the iPad, iPad Mini, iPhone, and iPod touch are all able to download and run the Foxtel Go app.
