Online news outlet Focus Taiwan quoted an e-mail sent to US customers last week by HTC's president for global sales and marketing, Jason Mackenzie. The email was later confirmed by HTC as legitimate, according to Focus Taiwan.

McKenzie claimed in the email that each individual HTC One smartphone takes a total of 220 minutes — or almost four hours — to manufacture.

The longer manufacture time was pinned on the fact that HTC has "reinvented the entire process of smartphone production," the email read.

In addition to revealing these specific details regarding the One's manufacturing process, McKenzie also apologised for delay of the smartphone.

"When we originally announced the new HTC One, we communicated a March availability date but we unfortunately will not meet this date in the U.S.," he said. "We apologise for this delay and are confident that you will find that the new HTC One will be well worth the wait."

HTC is currently arranging delivery dates with U.S. carrier and retail partners, but no specific release date has been announced or confirmed.

In Australia, the HTC One is set to be available at the end of April, though HTC Australia has not confirmed specific release date details.

The HTC One will be sold through all major Australian carriers including Telstra, Optus and Vodafone.
