Codenamed "Honami" and likely to use the model number C6906, the upcoming Sony device has been detailed on US Web site Xperia Blog.

The blog has published a number of screenshots of the Honami smartphone and has also revealed details of the device taken from the build.prop.

The key feature appears to be a 20-megapixel camera that can also record 4K video. The latter is likely to record at a resolution of 4000 x 2000 with an aspect ratio of 2:1.

The Sony Honami device is likely to be marketed heavily on its imaging capabilities. The camera is expected to have a number of advanced settings including a selectable ISO range, image stabilisation and an Exmor R sensor that uses the same process as as Sony's rumoured RX100 MkII digital camera.

The smartphone is also expected to have manual controls for shutter speed and aperture control, along with a new timeshift burst mode. It will be powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 800 processor and is likely to have a 5in screen.

A potential launch of the Sony Honami would come just days after the company confirmed it will release its new Xperia Z Ultra smartphone in Australia later this year.

The Xperia Z Ultra is described as a "premium large-screen Android smartphone" which Sony claims is the world's slimmest and largest with a full HD screen.

It has a 6.4in display, is fully waterproof, and comes with a stylus for on-screen sketching and writing.
