Stay Smart Online Awareness Week, an Australian Government initiative formerly called National Cyber Security Awareness Week, kicks off on Monday, 2 June. It’s an initiative that usually revolves around one particular theme concerning online security, with the aim being to educate Australians on how to stay safe while using the Internet.
This year’s theme is called ‘On The Go’ and it puts a focus on how to stay safe online when using mobile devices. The initiative involves partners that promote online safety during the week, be they schools, businesses, or industry players including antivirus companies. These partners are encouraged to come up with events, campaigns, and other ways to highlight the ways people can stay safe online.
Trend Micro is one of the vendors partnering up for Stay Smart Online Awareness Week, with the company holding a competition called ‘What’s Your Story?’, which is designed to promote positive conversation with today’s youth about the ways they use technology. The competition is eligible for children eight years and over, and it centres around two categories to enable today’s youth to tell their online story: they can create a poster, or they can create a video.
