Lenovo's Android-based Yoga Tablet 2 Pro, which ultra high-resolution 13-inch screen and an integrated projector, will be out at the end of the month.

Tablet sales are still growing, but the category has lost some of its luster. Products are being squeezed between convertible PCs and the growing popularity large-screened smartphones, according to Lenovo.

But instead of taking a step back, Lenovo is expanding its portfolio with the Yoga Tablet 2 Pro, which it showed off Thursday at an event in London. The screen has a 2560 by 1440 pixel resolution. The laptop weighs 950 grams and has an integrated kickstand.

Products with 13-inch screens are still rare, but tablets are mostly used at home so there is room for the larger form factor, according to Lenovo.

The tablet is powered by a new Intel Atom processor. There is 32GB of storage that can be expanded by another 64GB using a MicroSD card. Lenovo has also integrated an 8-megapixel camera on the back. There is the option to add LTE connectivity as well.

But the tablet stand out from the competition because of its integrated projector, which can display up to a 50-inch image at 2 meters with a 480p resolution. If that isn't enough, there is also an 8-watt subwoofer. The battery should last for about three hours when using the projector, Lenovo said.

The Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 Pro will be available at the end of October and cost from €499 or about $US599.

Lenovo also debuted Yoga 2 Tablets with 8-inch or 10-inch screens running either Windows or Android.
