Vodafone has made the surprise announcement it will start selling the iPad Air 2 and Mini 3 today. The carrier is offering a $100 credit to customers who add a 2 year tablet plan to their existing account before November 4.
Vodafone is the only carrier to stock Apple's new range of iPads at the time of writing. Telstra nor Optus have yet announced availability.
The introductory iPad Air 2 starts at $31 on Vodafone's $20 Plan per month. The $51 total covers a 16GB iPad Air and a monthly data allowance of 2.5GB.
Apple's iPad Mini 3 is also available on the $20 plan, with the 16GB variant costing an additional $26 per month.
The best value for money plan on offer at Vodafone is the $45 plan, which comes with an 8GB monthly data allowance. A 16GB iPad Mini 3 will cost an $20 per month, while the full sized 16GB Air 2 is an extra $25 on this plan.
Apple unveiled its 6mm thin iPad Air 2 five days ago at a launch event held in Cupertino. Major changes made to flagship tablet — other than the form factor — include a faster A8X processor and the inclusion of Touch ID.
The iPad Mini 3 received only one upgrade. The smaller slate now comes with TouchID.
The iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 will launch in store on 22 October and online on 28 October with Vodafone.
