The Sky Walker bolts electric motors to two wheels for unprecedented personal mobility

Crashing into the Australian market just in time for the Christmas shopping period

The Sky Walker is the latest in personal mobility. Two 350-watt electric motors drive a couple of wheels and the person standing atop. It’s an approach far more minimalist than its popular rival, the Segway, but its less-is-more philosophy ensures it doesn't take up much space and it keeps the price down.

Most people would’ve seen the Sky Walker online. A few may have seen them in the wild. Sydney-siders can check them out at Westfield Bondi Junction before the busy Christmas break.

The pop up store marks the entry of the Sky Walker in the Australian market. Two models are being launched, one sized 6.5-inches and another at 8-inches, in nine colours and designs. Pricing is set at a respective $799 and $999.

A 4.5-inch model is available for children; however, the company has yet to reveal its pricing.

Up to 20 kilometres can be travelled on a single charge, which could be enough for a quick trip to the shops. It has a maximum load of 110 kilograms and it takes approximately 2-3 hours to replenish its charge.

Driving is a little like a skateboard in that changing direction is a matter of leaning. The company claims it takes 3-5 minutes to understand how it works, and 30 minutes to master.

A pop up store will be present at Westfield Bondi Junction on 1 December. Orders can be placed online here.
