Vivo have officially announced their first smartphone with zero-bezels and a pop-up selfie camera, the VIvo Nex.
Based on the Apex concept device shown off at this year's Mobile World Congress, the Vivo Nex features a 6.59-inch 1080p+ OLED display with a screen-to-body ratio of 91.24%. It's not entirely without bezels - as a small 'chin' remains at the bottom edge of the edge - but it's well ahead of the competition.
Under the hood, the Nex also boasts a Snapdragon 845 processor, 8GB of RAM, 4,000mAh battery and 256GB of storage.
In lieu of a notch like that found on the Huawei P20 and iPhone X, Vivo have opted to utilize a pop-up selfie camera (8-megapixels, f/2.0) that rises out of the top-edge of the device. This comes paired up with a dual lens camera on the back (12-megapixels, f/1.8 + 5-megapixels f/2.4).
For better or worse, Vivo are currently only looking to launch the device in China. However, as demand from consumers increases for no-bezel devices, expect other vendors to launch similar products sooner rather than later.
