For work use, Microsoft Word and Excel programs pre-installed on the device are adequate for preparing short documents.

The Microsoft Security Essentials met my basic security needs. Battery life was quoted at five hours and I got close to that figure.

Bluetooth headphones paired with the tablet worked well, and Web browsing was fast using the Internet Explorer (IE) app.

The 10.1in touchscreen has a resolution of 1366x768. It is bright and clear, displays accurate colours and contrast, and text is sharp and easy to read. However, I would love to see a screen resolution upgrade in future revisions.

The tablet has dual built-in stereo speakers that produce clean audio. Gaming is not a strong point, but Microsoft Mahjong did work fine! SD video playback was OK but HD video playback was not fluid.

The included stylus touch pen is useful where precision is crucial or desirable. The tablet is reasonably compact and light but feels rugged in the hand. I was impressed with the balance between build quality and mobility.

The speed and responsiveness of the Q572 is OK for a dual-core CPU running at a speed of 1.0GHz. The 4GB of RAM and 128GB SSD drive helped too. However, as the installation of Windows 8 updates took forever, I’m sure that future revisions would benefit from a faster CPU.

Once set up, the Windows 8 Pro touch interface is fairly intuitive with minimal lag. The on screen keyboard is large, easy to type on, and responsive. The fan produces a low hum but the Q572 was only moderately warm during normal use.

Overall, the Fujitsu Stylistic Q572 comes recommended for a business user but better alternatives are available for a home user.
