We select a range of great products that will be music to your dad’s ears this Father’s Day

Does your dad prefer the finer things in life? Good wine, good food and good music to accompany it all? If he’s a music lover then we’ve done the legwork for you to unearth great gifts that are sure to make his Father’s Day an enjoyable one. We’ve shortlisted some of our favourite products.

Get dad a new digital radio: Pure ONE Classic digital radio, RRP: $249

Digital radio is the way of the future, with better sound quality and reception than regular AM/FM radio. The $249 Pure ONE Classic is a great choice if you're looking for a digital radio. It can be powered by a set of batteries — so it’s perfect for sitting outside on the veranda with a cold drink. Plus the line-out port means it can be connected to a set of larger speakers if you wanna get the party started!

On-the-go dad? Snag him a new MP3 player: Apple iPod Touch 2nd generation, RRP: $549; Sony Walkman X-Series, RRP: $549

There are a heap of great new MP3 players on the market that can take your dad from the Stone Age to the Space Age. Apple’s $549 2nd generation iPod Touch is always a good choice. It has full docking compatibility — a bonus if he’s got a new car to take his tunes on the go — and plenty of space to store music, podcasts, pictures and video. If he’s a brand lover, the latest $549 Sony Walkman X-Series packs even more into a smaller body. It has a great screen and the interface makes selecting and changing songs a breeze.

The sound of silence — upgrade his headphones: Sony MDR-NC500D noise-cancelling headphones, RRP: $799; Sennheiser HD 800 headphones, RRP: $2499

There comes a time when a dad — any dad — just wants to enjoy his music in peace and quiet. It’s hard work when the kids are underfoot causing a ruckus. A pair of big, chunky headphones is a god-send: select a quality set and every time he puts them on you’ll be gratefully remembered. The $799 Sony MDR-NC500D headphones have a great active noise-cancelling feature built in, so the outside world will seem miles away when he’s in his “cone of silence”. Of course, if he’s already got a headphone setup and you’re thinking of upgrading it, why not go for the top of the line for your dad? If the sky’s the limit then the $2499 Sennheiser HD 800 are a top choice.
