Pizza Hut has announced its intentions for an iPhone app, but what other fast food giants should join them?
Following Pizza Hut's announcement that it will launch an iPhone app and 3G mobile phone ordering service in Australia, the idea got us thinking: with a wealth of fast food vendors available in Australia, wouldn't you like to see your favourite food outlet develop an iPhone app?
We've compiled a list of the fast food joints that we want to see iPhone apps for, and included a vast array of tips and features the app should have. So fast food joints, the message is clear — get cracking!
McDonald's
Would you like fries with that? What would a fast food list be without the king of takeaway, the big M? In addition to the ability to browse through the entire McDonald's menu, we'd like to see a focus on the new Angus Beef burgers, specifically a way to read the nutritional chart on your iPhone. For those wondering, the Mighty Angus burger reads: 39.8g of protein, 33.2g of fat, 15.7g of saturated fat and 41.3g of carbohydrates. Mmm.
Oporto
Fresh-not-frozen, grilled-not-fried is what Oporto is famous for, aside from the signature Bondi Burger. Chicken, chicken and more chicken is on the menu here, but an Oporto iPhone app should have the ability to browse the ingredients of that HOT chilli sauce.
Krispy Kreme
If you thought Macca's Grand Angus burger was a heart stopper, why not try washing it down with a Krispy Kreme donut? The Choc Iced Crème filled donut with 20.6g of fat sounds like good choice — of course your iPhone app could even order home delivery. Homer Simpson would be in heaven.
KFC
A box of Colonel's finest always makes a great snack, especially when you're on the move. An iPhone app would be great to keep up with KFC's ever-changing menu — Cayan Grill, Original Recipe, Hot & Spicy, Fillets, Popcorn Chicken, Kentucky Nuggets, Winged Wings, Crispy Strips — the list goes on and on. Since when was chicken so complicated? [Just not "KFC's Famous Bowls" kthxbai — Ed.]
Domino's Pizza
Pizza Hut definitely needs some competition, so what better contender than Domino's Pizza. While Pizza Hut provides a virtual fridge and a free racing game, we suggest Domino's go one step further and provide a free game of dominoes — winner receives a free pizza on their next order, of course. Genius.
Subway
It's only right that we include at least one half-healthy option. In the world of fast food consisting of donuts, pizza, fried chicken and burgers with 80 per cent of your recommended saturated fat intake, Subway is a breath of fresh air. For corporate users, we suggest the iPhone app is capable of ordering business lunches — such as the vast array of sandwich platters Subway has on offer.
Ali Baba Kebabs
"Allliiii Baabbaaa". The song is catchy and the kebabs make a great early morning snack after a big night out. We suggest the iPhone app also include healthy eating tips from Ali Baba ambassador and Wests Tigers star Robbie Farah, who even has a kebab named after him — the Robbie Farah K'Bab. For those interested Robbie's preferred kebab consists of marinated chicken, tabouli, lettuce, tomato, onion and a splash of chilli sauce.
