Motorola has just announced the release of the first ruggedised Android smartphone, the Motorola Defy.
Check out our guide to top Motorola phones.
The Motorola Defy, which will be available exclusively through Telstra for three months from 30 November is water-, dust- and scratch-resistant and uses a special "gorilla glass" display which the company claims is difficult to scratch or crack.
Though Motorola was keen to point out that the Defy is not "waterproof" per say, it is described as water resistant, and can apparently handle being submerged in water up to a metre in depth. Motorola has described it as "ideal for the Australian summer".
We've just got our hands on the Motorola Defy, so check out how it holds up to the elements in the videos below:

Also check out the way the water drops register as swipes on the screen (pretty cool!):
We can also tell you that the Motorola Defy is capable of video recording while under water. After a quick wipe of the camera lens, it was good to go.
