Samsung's Galaxy Ace Android phone
Samsung has announced that its latest Galaxy Ace Android phone is now available exclusively through Telstra in Australia.

The Samsung Galaxy Ace is a mid-range Android smartphone that runs the 2.2 'Froyo' version of Google's Android operating system. It has a 3.5in capacitive touchscreen display, a 5-megapixel camera and is powered by an 800MHz processor. The Galaxy Ace only has 158MB of internal memory, but has a microSD card slot for extra storage.
"Building on the success of the Galaxy range, the Samsung Galaxy Ace offers a unique take on the Android smartphone experience, combining performance and functionality in a sleek design," said Tyler McGee, vice president of telecommunications at Samsung Australia. "We are excited to be partnering with Telstra to launch the Galaxy Ace and provide customers with the latest in Samsung smartphone design and innovation".
Other features of the Samsung Galaxy Ace include a pre-loaded Navigon turn-by-turn GPS navigation application, Exchange Active Sync compatibility for corporate e-mail, and a Swype keyboard that allows you to draw your fingers over the letters you want to type in a single motion.
The Galaxy Ace also comes with Samsung's Social Hub app that combines social networking, contacts, calendars and messaging activity into a single inbox, along with Samsung's TouchWIZ UI overlay.
The Samsung Galaxy Ace is available now through Telstra stores or online. It costs $528 outright or can be purchased for $0 upfront on Telstra's $59 Freedom Connect plan. The plan includes $550 worth of calls, unlimited text messages and 1.5GB of data per month. The Galaxy Ace is also available on a range of Telstra business plans.
In addition to the Galaxy Ace, Samsung is also set to launch the highly anticipated dual-core Galaxy S II Android phone on 26 May in Australia. The company describes it as "the biggest mobile phone launch for Samsung this year."
