Quoted by US Blog unwiredview.com, Huawei Device's CEO, Richard Yu, says the company is aiming to sell 10 million units of the new smartphone when it goes on sale in the coming weeks.

The blog claims Huawei has allocated 90 million Yuan (US$11 million) to the Ascend P6's marketing budget in its home country of China, with another US$30 million set aside for European advertising.

Huawei announced the Ascend P6 earlier this week, claiming the device is the "world's slimmest smartphone" at just 6.18mm. The company also says it comes with an "industry leading" 5-megapixel front-facing camera, which compares favourably against largely 2-megapixel alternatives.

The Huawei Ascend P6 will launch in China from June and should be available in Western Europe from July. It is expected to cost around €450 in Europe and CNY2,688 (around €327) in China, making it significantly cheaper than competing smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One.

Huawei Australia says there is "nothing to announce regarding an Australian launch" for the Ascend P6 but told us to "stay tuned".
