Optus has announced Australian pricing and plan details for Apple's new iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c smartphones, ahead of their official launch on Friday, 20 September.
Optus will sell both the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c on a total of five plans each, starting from a new entry level $35 My plan, ranging up to a $100 per month plan that offers unlimited call minutes.
The cheapest iPhone 5s 16GB model will cost $27 per month on Optus' $35 My plan, a total cost of $62 per month, while the cheapest iPhone 5c will cost $22 per month on the same plan, a total cost of $57 per month.
Optus customers will have to pay a monthly handset repayment on almost every plan, barring the 16GB iPhone 5s on the $100 plan, the 16GB iPhone 5c on both the $100 and $80 plans, and the 32GB iPhone 5c on the $100 plan.
The Optus iPhone plans follow the telcos new charging model, which it announced back in June. Under the new model, customers have the option to change plans on a monthly basis if they exceed their data or voice allowance.
Optus also quotes voice inclusions by minutes rather than a traditional dollar value.
Like Telstra and Vodafone's iPhone pricing, which was announced earlier this week, the Optus plans are a significant increase on last year's iPhone 5 plans.
It follows a trend in the Australian telco market where major providers continue to raise prices but decrease data allowances.
Both the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c will be available through all major telcos, Apple's Retail Stores, and the Apple online store from Friday, 20 September.
Below is a table of all Optus plans available for the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c. The colours represent the plan cost for the listed model where appropriate, and are as follows:
Green = entry level (cheapest) plan
Blue = medium level plan
Orange = medium-high level plan

Red = high level (most expensive) plan
