Optus has partnered with Google to integrate a direct carrier billing model within the Google Play store.
From Wednesday, May 7, all Optus post-paid customers using an Android smartphone or tablet will be able to purchase content from Google Play and have it charged to their monthly bill.
This means users do not require a credit card to buy apps, games, ebooks, and music.
The integration comes with two limitations: Optus has restricted purchases to a maximum of $49.99 per transaction, and a total of $200 per month on all content attained via the service.
Each transaction will also prompt users to accept a secondary confirmation.
Android users who require further content can opt for alternative payment methods.
Optus customers can sign up for direct billing through a one-time registration and validation process through Google Play.
