Second delay plagues Samsung Galaxy Note Edge launch

The wait for Samsung’s edgy Note continues...

Wednesday the 12th of November was meant to be the day Samsung released its innovative Note Edge in Australia.

Australians keen on the Edge phablet will have to wait nearly a fortnight more after Samsung released the following statement:

The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge will commence shipping from 25th November. We apologise for any inconvenience.

This is the second time Samsung has delayed the launch of the Galaxy Note Edge. Initially 5 November was scheduled to be the date of release.

Only Vodafone has publically announced it will range the Note Edge. Pricing for the phablet starts at $88 per month over a 24 month contract from Vodafone.

Samsung has priced the Note Edge at $1249.

Distinguishing the Note Edge from the plethora of smartphones is a 5.6in screen that runs right over the edge, creating an effect similar to a waterfall spilling over. The additional screen space runs information down the smartphone’s side, vertically, feeding contextual insights in the same vein as a news ticker.

Samsung promptly launched the companion Note, the Note 4, on Tuesday 4 November, in an effort to sway customers considering an iPhone 6 Plus. The smartphone shares many of its features with the Note Edge and scored well in Good Gear Guide's review.

No reason was offered for the delay. Good Gear Guide has reached out to Samsung Australia representatives for more information. Comment was not immediately available at the time of publication, though this article will be updated with a response from the company.
