Netflix, Stan and Presto all have a place on the fifteen UHD televisions Samsung has launched in Australia as the manufacturer increases its support for Internet streaming services.
Premium televisions in Samsung's 2015 television range carry the moniker ‘SUHD’, which denotes the use of nano-crystal technology for “excellent colour purity and light efficiency”.
All of the Samsung smart televisions launched run the open source Tizen platform and are powered by octa-core processors. The Tizen-powered televisions will play a strategic role in Samsung’s Internet of Things future.
Applications supporting the platform include popular video-on demand services Netflix, Stan and Presto. Samsung is offering bonus access to Netflix for six months to “the first purchasers” of its 2015 range.
The TVs will automatically recognise connected Samsung smartphones for streamlined content sharing. This includes ‘throwing’ content to the TVs and having content streamed to compatible Samsung smartphones.
Introducing the range is the Series 7 JU7000, a 55-inch UHD television that has a retail price of $3199.
Thirteen of the televisions are already on sale. The top of the range Series 9 JS9500, an 88-inch SUHD television, will retail for $24,999 when it goes on sale in June.

Six of the fifteen Samsung televisions launched have a curved form factor. Samsung has launched three curves soundbars to match these televisions, with pricing ranging from $999 to $1699.
Missing from the range are OLED televisions; a technology Samsung has promoted in the past. Company executives claim SUHD televisions compete with OLED televisions on picture quality.
Rival LG launched an OLED television in 2014, but has since thrown its weight behind UHD televisions in 2015 with 17 models.
