Samsung has put an end to the leaks and speculation surrounding its 2019 flagships, officially unveiling the Galaxy S10 and S10+.
“The Galaxy S10 is a culmination of 10 years of smartphone innovation from Samsung. This smartphone represents a milestone in power and design and it will empower Australians to do, see, feel and experience more using their mobile phone” said Garry McGregor, Vice President of IT and Mobile for Samsung Electronics Australia.
“The Galaxy S10 range is designed and engineered for those who want a next-generation, premium Galaxy experience: A re-engineered dynamic display, camera technology that makes it easier to take amazing photos and performance that’s optimised for the way we use our phones today.”
At a glance, the S10 features all the usual hardware perks that Galaxy S-owners know and love but throws in a few new tricks to sweeten the deal.
Credit: Samsung The S10 boasts a headphone jack, MicroSD slot, regular & PowerShare wireless charging, Dolby Atmos speakers, IP68 waterproofing, a 3400mAh battery, an “ultrasonic” in-screen fingerprint sensor and a 6.1-inch dynamic AMOLED HDR+ display with a holepunch notch.

The S10 will come powered by Android 9, Samsung's new One UI software paired up with its latest Exynos processor and 8GB of RAM. There will be two storage configurations available for the device: 128GB ROM and 512GB ROM.
As for the camera, the Galaxy S10 features a 10-megapixel (f/1.9) selfie shooter on the front and a P20-style triple-lens array on the back. The latter combines a 12-megapixel (f/2.4) telephoto lens, a 12-megapixel (f/1.5) wide angle lens and a 16-megapixel (f/2.2) ultra wide lens.
In Australia, the pricing for last year's Galaxy S9 started at $1199. This year’s S10 starts at $1349.
By comparison, the Galaxy S10+ features a larger 6.4-inch display, 4100mAh battery and a wider holepunch notch. Otherwise, it touts many of the same flagship features found in the S10: a headphone jack, MicroSD slot, regular & PowerShare wireless charging, Dolby Atmos speakers IP68 waterproofing and an “ultrasonic” in-screen fingerprint sensor.
The Galaxy S10+ is available in three storage configurations: 6GB RAM/128GB ROM, 8GB RAM/512GB ROM and 12GB RAM/1TB ROM.
Credit: Samsung While the S10+ features the same triple-lens camera on its backside as the S10, it is distinguished by a slightly-beefier front-facing camera system that pairs together a 10-megapixel (f/1.9) lens and a 8-megapixel (f/2.2) one.
To summarize: the Galaxy S10+ features a larger battery, a dual-lens front-facing camera and bigger-screen when compared to the S10.
There’s also a 5G model called the Galaxy S10 5G, which will be available to Telstra customers. The Galaxy S10 5G boasts a 6.7-inch QHD+ AMOLED display, a quadruple-lens camera system with Dual OIS (that adds a fourth 3D depth hQVGA lens to the S10’s existing triple-lens array), a dual-lens front-facing camera kit (which incorporates a similar 3D depth lens to that found on the back), 8GB of RAM, 256GB of on-board storage, a 4500mAh battery, Super Fast wired charging, regular & PowerShare wireless charging and an in-screen fingerprint sensor.
“Telstra and Samsung have already accomplished a number of Australian firsts together. We achieved the first smartphone 1 Gigabit per second (1Gbps) download on a commercial mobile network on the S9 series last year and we look forward to achieving even more milestones together soon,” McGregor says.

Telstra say that the release date for the Galaxy S10 5G will be announced closer to the Australian launch. However, customers who maintain their existing plan and return their S10+ in good working order will be able to upgrade for free up to 21 days after the device goes on sale.
The Galaxy S10 is available in Prism Green, Prism Black and Prism White. The Galaxy S10+ is only available in Ceramic Black and Ceramic White.
In Australia, pricing for the Galaxy S10+ starts at $1349 for the 128GB model and $1699 for 512GB model. Pricing for the S10 is naturally higher at $1499 for the 128GB model, $1849 for the 512GB model and $2399 for 1TB model.
Both the Galaxy S10 and S10+ will hit Australian shelves on the 8th of March. The Samsung Galaxy S10 5G and Samsung Galaxy Fold will land later in the year.
