Fujifilm's MX-1200 is aimed squarely at the "want one but can't quite afford it yet" market and offers solid digital imaging at a very tempting price.
The MX-1200 differs only from the cutting edge of the market in that its maximum image resolution is 1280 x 960 pixels. This is still a size not to be sneezed at and is perfectly adequate for non-professional print and any Web-based application. The camera features a Fujinon lens equivalent to a 35mm slight wide angle "normal" camera lens, which has macro capabilities allowing focusing down to 10cm. The user can adjust the white balance settings for the environment's ambient light source and compensate the exposure to get the perfect image brightness. The MX-1200 has a 1.6in LCD image monitor for use as a viewfinder or image play-back screen and will support direct printing through an NX-70 digital printer. Connection to a computer is via either serial or USB ports and the camera will take up to 23 images on the bundled 4MB SmartMedia Card.
