If you’re looking to invest in your next work horse laptop for work or home use, you can’t go wrong with the MSI GE63.

My first impression on unpacking the MSI GE63 Raider was how sleek and professional it appeared. With its brushed metal casing and slimline body you could tell it was a serious piece of kit with that great, timeless look.

Once I booted up the keyboard a multitude of colours came to life. After doing a quick search on the MSI website, I learnt how easy it is to customise the keyboard colours. There are more than 16.8 million different combinations to choose from. Whether you want the GE63 to light up set keys for either gaming or work or have a ‘wave’ of randomly changing colours, there is an option to suit everybody. This attracted plenty of comments from friends and family.

I usually spend a lot of my time watching movies, YouTube and Facebook videos on my laptop and I didn’t think the MSI GE63 would be much different to my current laptop but I was wrong! The 15.6” full HD screen and the MSI True Colour 2.0 technology immediately draw you to the screen and the four separate hi-res audio speakers (two giant speakers + 2 woofers) brought every minute detail of the films to life and made a significant difference to my viewing experience.

I would definitely recommend this laptop for anybody who, like me, not only uses their laptop extensively for work purposes who needs a professional, top of the range piece of kit to keep up but also one that can double up to help immerse themselves in films in their spare time to help them unwind. No matter how cheesy their taste is!

The overall performance of the MSI GE63 is also impressive thanks to its 8th Gen Intel Core i7 processer. The laptop seamlessly handled everything and anything I could throw at it - whether it be downloading numerous files simultaneously for work or streaming films online.

The feature I loved the most was the MSI SHIFT technology that allows the user to personalise the battery life to their needs. I can’t stand a laptop that doesn’t hold its charge. There is nothing worse than travelling overseas, to work, or to a friends’ house, and finishing off work tasks, surfing social media or watching YouTube, and having your laptop die on you - with no access to a charging point!

This is where the MSI SHIFT Technology comes into its own. On my long commute in the mornings I ramped the laptop performance up to Turbo, to ensure I got everything done at lightning pace for the day ahead. Conversely on the relaxed commute home, I could unwind watching my favourite cheesy TV shows knowing I didn’t need to worry about battery life thanks to the Eco mode.

Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with the MSI GE63. The simple, yet brilliant, styling featuring the brushed metal casing and the colourful illuminated keyboard make it both professional and stand out from the crowd. And, as with all fantastic laptops, it is as much about what’s inside as what’s outside. The 8th Gen Intel Core i7 processer really does boost performance enabling the laptop to cope with any task while the 15.6” full HD screen and Hi-Res Audio speakers heighten any social or media experience.

I need power and lots of it. As a Front End Web developer anything less just won’t cut it which is why the MSI GT75 is an outstanding laptop for me. It’s a sleek and futuristic looking, high quality, beast that has a touch of sci-fi flare about it.
